Where do I start?

The first step in updating the information on your ID is to apply to change your Name and Gender Marker on your Birth Certificate. 

​

The Birth Certificate will act as the foundational document and ease the process of getting every other document changed. Such as your Drivers License, Passport, Health cards and more.

What information do I need to change my birth certificate?

What you need for this depends on the province you live in. Please consult the Before Your Appointment Checklist for details of what is required in each province.

What if I don't have everything together before my appointment?

If you don't have all that you need before your appointment, you can still attend your appointment.
